Fist!

Good write up!

This is scary bad right now.

Sure hope they find a way to clean it up and make this system work for them.

that aptly describes my sports day yesterday

Sabres get shellacked...

Indians fall to the Yankees...

And...

with two players (Jordan Howard and Stephon Diggs) playing on MNF and me needing less than 10 points for a fantasy victory, Diggs suffers and injury (Keenum still sux) and the two combine for 7.6 points...

Maybe playing Risto 26 minutes per night and nobody else on D over 18 minutes is not a great strategy...

risto, and maybe McCabe are the least of their worries on defense...playing beaulieu on the top pair and having Tennyson, whom you should know well, on the second pair (or even in the lineup) are of more concern

So many bad long term contracts ... Ryan OR, making 8-9 million a year should be a top 25 goal scorer at the end of the season ... can't see this happening

There are far too many passengers on this team collecting pay cheques. Also, there are some veterans whom we have over valued that are not pulling their weight. Sam Reinhart is slow, never wins a battle along the boards and not very good at faceoffs. Another year will be wasted.

That's more of what I meant by that. Those guys shouldn't be playing that high up in the lineup, and if somebody doesn't step up soon to take more minutes and be a reliable partner for Risto, you're going to be in for a long season.

Right now it kind of looks like the Canes were on D a few years ago with Pitkanen and... uh... a bunch of other guys, a few of which are probably NHL players.

Then there's the whole issue of guys checking out.

Have seen that before lots too. Can't ever just give up one and regroup.... It always turns into 2 or 3. Happened every other game under Kirk Muller.

Everyone was hyped up on Bealieu (sp?) and I wanted to be positive but there was always that nagging concern, he was available for a third?

If he's a top pairing D, I'd think that would be SLIGHTLY higher.

Although he could remove his head from his butt and be great.

it's still early...

ror has been pretty consistent as he finished top-two in scoring the last two seasons including leading the team two years ago despite missing 11 games...he averages .63 points/game which is low for a $7M aav, but it's not abysmal

The worst part about all of this is we are not even set up to win in the future. The roster is truly putrid, weaknesses everywhere, and nothing besides Middlestadt to speak about in terms of prospects. No D talent, no wing talent, our core players are avg to below avg scorers (O'Reilly, Reinhart, Okposo).

It's dark

Murray did a masterful job of tearing that team apart.

He did an atrocious job of putting it back together.

Man oh man that was a crap kicking if there ever was one yesterday. My takeaways;

System works well when players are playing right, see first period against Mtl, some of the best Sabres hockey ive seen in a while.
Team has decent speed.
Eichel seems to be trying way to hard.
Reinhart is just not good so far, no offensive impact at all.
Zemgus has looked really good engaging with speed and forecheck.
Where are ROR and KO?
Goaltending has been an issue each game.
PK is great.
PP not so much, see SHG.
I don't get taking Nolan out for mouilson, that fourth line of Larsson Joe and Nolan were excellent against the habs.
Beaulieu cant figure out what team he plays for when on the ice.
Kane has been great, the only bright spot on this team besides the PK. If Botts could move Sam for equal value id do it regardless who is coming back.

Good on ya Pach for pointing out how stupid the canned answers are that we get in the pressers

I'd say Guhle is a cant miss prospect, also we do have Eichel, hes pretty good, its amazing to think what kind of value we had with all the picks and prospects TM picked up, then literally threw most away, its not looking good anyway you slice this team.
